Sunderland clinch deal for former Liverpool hitman!

Former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse has joined Sunderland on a season long loan deal from Marseille.

The French star is the latest player to join Roy Keane's side this summer as the Irish man aims to push the club up the Premiership table.

The 27 year old moves to the Stadium of Light on an initial year loan deal with the club having the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

"I'm really pleased to join a good club with good players," Cisse told the club's official website.
"Sunderland is a club I think is going to achieve things, they have big ambitions, that's why I chose to come here. I liked what the club had to say to me."

Boss Roy Keane was equally pleased to bring the Frenchman to the North East, adding : "This signing shows our ambitions and intentions. We're delighted with the new faces we've brought in, we've been working hard all summer to significantly improve the squad,"
"The signing of Djibril shows how far this club has moved on since the end of last season. His experience will bring a lot to the squad and he will hopefully add some goals to the side."

Liverpool Chief: £50m Torres NOT going to Chelsea!

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres will not be heading to Chelsea this summer, according to Chief Executive Rick Parry.

The Spanish striker has been linked with a £50 million switch to Premiership rivals Chelsea as new Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari aims to take the title back to Stamford Bridge.

Speculation in the media is mounting that Chelsea are set to launch a raid on Anfield for the highly rated striker, however Parry has insisted that the Spaniard will not be leaving the Reds this summer.

"Fernando Torres is just not for sale to anyone," Parry told the club's official website.
"It is as simple as that, really - he is not going anywhere."
